Car is dead. Advice please????
Just bought a 53 plate 1.6 TS and it doesn't start.
I think I may have been done - but can only blame my overly trusting nature!
Basically I was told the car had been off the road for a while due to a lost licence and it was serviced regularly and ran well before it was SORNED (worryingly the promised service history to vindicate this never materialised). After standing for months I was told upon start up the car now doesn't fire and it may be an electrical fault / battery issue.
After trying the car it does indeed try to start but never fires. The amber engine light flickers on and off constantly and the other amber light (triangle with exclamation) is on constantly. Also the fob tries to lock the car but it immediately unlocks?
Also I notice that the central computer screen has a black plate with an Alfa insignia?? Did not all facelift 1.6 Alfa's have the centre computer?? or has it been blanked off?
Here's my worry. Upon hooking up to FiatECUscan it cannot recognise or find the engine ECU. Every other ECU is found but the engine ECU is not responding. Could this be a wiring issue or is my fear that the engine ECU could be shot, founded?
Any advice on troubleshooting is gratefully appreciated.
