Ok... You want to be talked out of it?
That's fairly easy
Do you want smoke blown up your backside or do you want an honest unbiased opinion?
The jts engine is the most unreliable and unpredictable engine in the entire range that Alfa have fitted to their vehicles in the past 18 or so years...
Fuel injection system issues in particular without impending warning or reason.
The selespeed gearbox, reliable as the manual but require attention to pumps and adjustment a lot more often.
Not my opinion, just simple hard fact and percentage of repair queries compared to other engine and gearbox combinations just read the posts and count the difference in comparison.....
There is a reason why you see jts equipped cars hold less value in the used market and why the selespeeds don't command higher values either..
Combine the two mechanically sensitive and complicated units in one car, then expect complications without driver intervention or reason.
Every marque has a "problem child"
Do your homework first... Read, read and read some more and make your own choice based on what you then know, not what someone else tells you, regardless if they own one or not.
As with all cars, some good , some bad... But you are maybe asking the wrong question....
If you really want to know if a car is a good buy or worth the risk... Ask how much an identical model has cost an owner in the past three years for repairs, not how good it feels to drive and base your findings on that.
Your choice at the end of the day though. But remember... It your money you are spending, not their's mate. It's very easy to spend another person's money based on recommendation without giving the whole warts and all picture
