Another Alfa to heaven!
Pains me to write this but this week the cambelt gave on my (54) 147Jtdm with all the usual implications.
I bought this car 5 years ago with 50k on it. Had the cambelt changed at 60k and it had just turned 120k so was preparing to have the belt changed plus a new set of brake disc/pads all round (already purchased!), looks like I am a few weeks late. I can honestly say it has been the best car I have owned in terms comfort and day to day driving and am gutted that the repair costs will make it impractical to proceed.
My issue is that it has a scrap value of virtually nothing and seems that a car that has been looked after and I would be more than happy to continue driving seems dramatic. The inside to me looks new with leather interior etc, good alloys and would love to think my misfortune could breed life into another Alfa. My question is, has anyone got any ideas as to who may take the car off me without resorting turning it into something resembling a red washing machine. The car is presently at my local garage but I am unable to move it without a flatbed and although the garage are understanding they will not want it in the way for long.
