Advice appreciated- door catch

Hope I can get some advice from the good people on here.

A few days ago, it was torrential rain all day, and my GT developed a problem where even though the passenger door was correctly shut, the car was sensing it as open. This meant that the locks wouldn't engage and the passenger window would not go up fully, as it thought the door was open.

Took it to a local garage, a specialist said it was the door catch that needed replacing, as it was not sensing the door being shut. They quoted me ~55 and labour to get it replaced.

However, I checked this morning, opened and shut the passenger door, and the problem seems to have resolved itself. Looking on the forums here, it seems it is a pretty common problem when it rains, and often resolves itself.

The advice I'm seeking is do you think I should just take the chance, not get it replaced, take the risk it might happen again in a difficult situation, or is it worth the 55+ so it does not happen again.

Sorry for the large post, hope you can help.

There is a sensor on the door catch that tells the car the door is shut, worth giving it a good dose of wd40 or similar to see if it clears the problem before you get it changed, might just be some damp in the switch, or as you say it may just fix itself, I have had some odd problems that have vanished with no action from me.
