Another temperature problem
So this afternoon I decided to sort out that sticky gear shift problem that is so common with the 147's. After I completed the job I took the car for a spin and the temperature gauge hardily moved from the 50 mark.
By the end of the journey the gauge was reading about 70 I think and got there much more slowly then normal.
When I got back I stuck my head under the bonnet to see what was going on. The engine was hotter then normal, radiator colder then it should have been and I think there was sufficient heat coming into the car.
Where should I start my investigations about this tomorrow? Could a thermostat fail to open instead of the usual fail to close? Could this be an electrical problem considering I just had the engine bay fuse box out to get at the gear linkage?
I also just got the car back from the mechanics today after almost a month of being there so the engine hasn't been warmed up properly for a long time. I did also pick it up from the mechanics today and on the journey back there wasn't anything unusual about the temperature.
Sorry if my post is hard to understand or a bit long winded, as you can probably see, I'm new to all this.
