I hope someone can guide me in the right direction (or point me to a previous thread if I've missed it).
My 5 year old, 50k, 2.00 TS, 156 SW has developed a strange behaviour.
All of these symptoms appear
to be when the engine is warm.
At idle, the engine speed would move up and down, from about 900 to 1400 revs.
When crusing (anywhere fromm 40 mph upwards) and I lift my foot off the pedal slightly e.g. when coming up behind another car, the car jerks - as if it's run out of fuel. I get from 1 to many jerks/misfires.
I've had the car about 4 weeks - I never ran the car long enough during test driving to discover this fault (I know
- lesson learnt). I know a new timing belt was fitted shortly before I got it, but not by an Alfa specialsit/dealer.
My specialist has cleaned the throttle, which appears to have solved that throttle problem, but given me a new one - when warm the engine idles high, around 1500-1900.
IN relation to the jerking - He wondered if the timing might be out, because the non-specialist might not have had the correct gubbins to reset it perfectly after the belt change.
I'm going back to my specialst in the next few days, but can anyone give me any ideas as to what might be wriong?
Thanks a lot
