hi pud 237 sworry about yesterday got caught up with kids etc.. not exactly sure yet not got it apart may have thrown a shell sounds like a bag of spanners but having to do any repair will be out in the car park as usual so thought it may be easier to swap bottom end rather than taking it appart and having it expossed to the elements for longer than needed?? not been more than a few hundred yards since it happened so hope it is not terminal. started yesterday for 10 seconds. started first turn of the key! just louuuuud.
If it has done the bottom end then best thing to do is replace the engine IMO, its more than likely your crank is scrap if its span a shell, or it would at least need to come out to be re-ground.
Easiest way to do it on one of these is to remove the engine & gearbox complete from below. Remove front bumper and rad-pack to give yourself some space, then get it as high as you can and the engine & gearbox will come out together without having to strip the subframe.
No it would just complicate things, they use different pistons, some of the sensors on the block are different, the sump & oil pickup is different.. Plus its harder to get hold of JTS parts and they're usually more expensive.
Ok thanks just wondered found one on the web it was the only bottom end I could find . Thanks for all your help. If I can get the money together I will fit an engine. Just a bit stuck at the mo and needed to get it mobile again! Cheers anyway have a good one!!!
If you have some free time on your hands you could pull the sump off for a look at the big end bearings and crank, its probably a waste of time but maybe if the crank is only lightly marked you could clean it up, fit new big end bearings and maybe it'll be OK. Slim chance though I reckon
