Alfa GT, Kangeroos, Turbo Sensors, and hissing? Possible Boost/Turbo Problem
So had my GT for ages now and people keep asking me the age old Alfa question, and my response, after 5 years of trouble free alfa-ing (more or less) has always been its a myth!
However, recently in the past few months there has been an odd 'kangeroo' effect from 2k-3k revs on acceleration, along with a similar noise effect from the turbo. Simply put it sounds like the turbo tries and fail to spool up properly, but after a short while kicks in fine.
However today, i heard a noise I hadn't heard before. It started as a loud hissing/slightly metallic noise from about 2.5krpm. When i went to accelerate i lost all power, and gradually came to a halt after a few plumes of black smoke from the exhaust. After sitting for a minute and powering back up the car started fine, but with the 'go straight to dealer do not past go' light coming on. It seemed OK, until I get to 2-3k rpm. The turbo (at least I think its the turbo) make's a horrific whining/hissing/slightly metallic noise, and theres blotchy black smoke from the exhaust on acceleration. After getting home i plugged in to find a 'p0238 turbo super charger boost sensor A circuit high' error on the ECU.
I've read up on a few threads, and suspect possibly the lower turbo hose - can anyone confirm if a split in this hose would cause a fault reading from this sensor? Can anyone confirm where this sensor can be found?
I'll ramp it up this weekend and look closer, but I suspect I'll replace it if it is split.Only issue is other threads for split hoses dont describe the sound or problems as I have had, leading to think it may be something else? Could it be the turbo seal? I have no idea where to look...
I'm in Worthing, nr Brighton if anyone know's a good indi to get it inspected by.
EDIT: I cleaned out the ERG value about 6 month ago after it 'locked up'
