have just bought "my first Alfa"!
I spent all day yesterday in it! What a ride, even in the wet it handled perfectly.
Anyway to the point of the thread!
I think i will keep the head unit (the car is a 2002 147 2.0l Lusso which has original Alfa radio in it) as i like the fact it "talks" to the dispay behind the steering wheel and if kept "original looking" may keep away unwanted advances!!!
I want to add a boot changer and i allready own a very good Pioneer CDX-P670, a small, (so easily hidden away) excellent sounding unit.
So, question 1) Does anyone know of an adaptor lead which will allow the head unit (Blaupunkt?) to control a Pioneer P series boot changer?
The sound quality from the head unit is also not quite as i would like. It seems quite bass light, not that i'm a "bass head"! but to get any sound that is "flat" in its response i have to have the treble control at zero and the bass at +6 with the loudness control on.
So, i want to add an amplifier and maybe change the speakers (front only).
Question 2) Does anyone know how easy it is to route a power cable through the bulkhead/firewall from the battery through to the boot?
Question 3) Are there any good quality speakers available which will fit directly in to the holes left by the originals. I don't feel confident enough to start cutting the door panels.
I can modify the head unit to give "pre-outs" quite easily (some good advice is allready listed in these pages) but will obviously have to have the set out of the car. The dealer i purchased the car from hasn't supplied the code, i have asked them for it but from past experience in these matters they often find it difficult to obtain codes on second hand vehicles.
Therefore, Question 3) Has anyone had experience in obtaining radio codes directly from the manufacturer of the set (B'Punkt?).
Well, that's all the questions i think for now!
All the best, James.
