Violent start - JTD

When I start up and turn off my GT it does so in a rather violent fashion which shakes the whole car. Everything else works fine. Is my top engine mount knackered?

Possibly, it's easy to check the top mount. If you grab the mount (with the engine off), see how easy it is to move by hand, it shouldn't be loose.

You can also get a mate to look at the engine on start-up and see how much it lurches. When mine went, my bro said it looked like the engine was trying to jump out of the car.

Check that the butterfly in the inlet manifold (looks like a throttle valve but it's not) is closing completely.
