Buying the new 147
Took the new 147 for a drive this week, the 1.9 JTD-MJ to be exact. It is really good, and the facelift looks much better in real life compared to the photos.
I want one. Now the waiting period is 3 months, so if I place the order now, I will get the car this year still and a month later it will be 2006 and my car will be a year old, so I want to place the order in October so I can take delivery in Jan, so it will be a 2006 model.
Now I just need to decide on 2.0 petrol or the 1.9JTD-MJ. The diesel is brilliant, and the fuel consumption unreal! But the thing is, I love the petrol engines sound and all that stuff. So I am leaving it down to one thing that is going to influence my decision, reliability. The TS engine, as we all know, is not the most reliable around. And the cambelts are an issue, as you saw in a recent thread of mine, I had to change the cambelt on my 1.6 at 52,000 km. And the TS uses a lot of oil.
I don't need to be told about the TS engines, cause I know all about those, but could you guys tell me how reliable the 1.9JTD-MJ is, and does it use oil? I did search the forum, but I can only find confirmation that the 2.4JTD is reliable and doesn't use oil, but that is a different motor, 5 cylinders instead of 4, so it is has a different block etc.
if you have to ask, then you'll never understand.
