Engine upgrade HELP !!

Hiya Guys
Will a 166 3.0ltr v6 engine fit into a 156 2.5ltr v6 engine bay without any hassle or wiring changes? also any ideas of pricing to fit the engine?

I have a gear box problem and dont know whether to upgrade, or replace the gearbox or replace the whole thing? any suggestions welcome.

Is it easier / cheaper to replace the engine and gearbox rather than just the gear box?

Cheaper and easier to find a replacement gearbox than a full engine transplant.
I also doubt it would be a straight swap.

Search for a gearbox round breakers / Alfa specialists.
It will also be far far cheaper.

I considered this a while ago, but I was told if I wanted a 3.0 engine in a 156, it would have to come out of a GTV/Spider, as the 166 (battery in the boot) was a slightly different set up! But, I would have thought the engines were the same?!

Engines are essentially the same but all the mountings, and I suspect the brackets for the ancilliaries, are different. 166 front subframe layout is completely different compared to the 156.....

You need to check out Info on the GTA's may give you better idea. as mentioned before the subframes are different. battery in the boot makes no odds but suspect loom and ecu may need thinking about be nice upgrade 30 bhp, more torque minor remap and nearly a GTA. You may need to check the weight also for the shocks but dont think there is a big difference.
