Having sold my 'client friendly' Spider a few weeks ago, I have been running the old 156 as a daily in the interim, whilst I decide what to buy as my next presentable car for business use.
I was out doing a home appointment with some clients of mine this morning. As I pulled up onto the drive in my (recently washed) 156, before I could get out of the car both had come out of the house smiling.
'We just saw you pulling up and wanted to come out and have a look at your beautiful car!'
Both walked round the car grinning and looking her up and down.
They nearly fell over when I told them it was a 15 years old car that I picked up for £900 covered in filth and plantlife!
I had been thinking of leasing a C250 coupe as a daily, but the way things are going I might just keep running around in the 156. It might not be the most corporate of cars, but it is magnificent to drive, comfortable, costs nothing per month in finance and is certainly not going to depreciate any more.
Nice to see that a pampered old 156 can still inspire such a great reaction.
