Help- 2005 GT 2.0 JTS: 5 Fault codes
I've had the dreaded MCSF warning come on. The car is a 2005 GT 2.0 JTS, ~47000mi.
I've had the fault codes read and they are as follows:
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0304 Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
P1173 Rotor Calibration Fault
P1174 Cam Sensor Fault
P1175 Cam control fault
Looking at the various past posts in the forum (and there are several), I think the P117x faults mean that either my MAF needs replacing or the air intake is leaking somewhere (or both) and the P030x faults mean my coil pack on cylinder 4 may need replacing.
I've got it booked into my local indie for a service this week and I intended to have my spark plugs replaced in any case. Also, I may replace my battery since it is as old as the car.
The car drives fine and I was just hoping to not have to replace the MAF and the coil pack this time round. I've had the ecu reset and nothing is showing up at the moment.
So my questions are:
1.Can a faulty air intake cause cylinder 4 misfire or vice versa, or am I sunk and need to do both the coil pack and the MAF (assuming it is the MAF and not some intake pipe etc)?
2.Can I replace 1 coil pack as opposed to having to replace all of them?
3.Also, any guesses on how much replacing both MAF and coil pack is likely to cost?
Thanks very much.
