I live in hope that just for once I will fix the GT and that it doesn't feel the need to get the last word in!
spent some more folding on it last week getting the drivers door handle fixed (hinge broke 'cos its made of cheese), Mrs is now happy beacause she can get in a drive without bits falling off in her hands
This morning she goes to put something in the back and opens the passenger door - or rather doesn't! The handle moves but door won't open.
As its a nice day, I decide I will not spend £130 getting the garage to look at it, and remove the door card for a look. I quickly conclude that the folk on the Alfa production lines must have been contortionists as I can see that a rod to operate the lock has popped out the back of the door handle actuator but I cannot get my hand in far enough to relocate it. Eventually I figure the best approach is from the top rear corner of the door having removed the rubber trim. Using some long nose pliers I can just manoeuvre the rod into the right place and then using a screwdriver push it home into the little socket on the back of the door handle and happily all is now working properly again
Annoying bit is I now have to order a new plug trim for the door handle as I had to drill the old one out to save gouging the door trim - what a stupid design!
Oh well - hopefully the GT is now Fixed!!!! - for a while at least, as sure enough it'll want some more attention soon no doubt
I'd like to save some cash to get the driver's seat repaired (side bolster worn through by previous owner).
Hope you fixed your Alfa cheaply today too
