Hello! i'm a noob to this site as i FINALLY got myself an alfa after wanting one for ages...............but it's broken and i'm stuck! any help would be greatly appreciated. i've searched lots of threads but none is quite the same problem.
right, i've got a 2002 147 1.6. the 120hp one. the lady i bought it from said she had never had the key fob remote locking working, and the unlock and boot open buttons were missing (only 1 key too). after having the car 6 days and already fallen in love with it, i was stood next to the car playing with the key fob and pressed the lock button. HEY PRESTO the car locked. slightly shocked i thought nothing of it and went to unlock the car using the key in the door and drive home, opened the door and the alarm went off! ****!!!!! so i shut the door! and tried to shut up the alarm! it stopped. opened the door alarm going off tried to put the key in the ignition and Imobilizer failure flashes up. car won't start. Got it recovered for £60 by the AA to the local stealer, sorry, dealer (vospers plymouth) and they run diagnostics for £45 two days later. they say i basically need a new body computer, ecu and key for the "bargain" of £1065!!! told them to go away did some research and found out about the emergency start and told them i'd be in to get it. turned up and apparently the alarm going off all the time annoyed some director so they disconnected my alarm (would've kicked off but they had just shut when i got there) emergency start worked fine, but now have to do it every time i want to start the car. got new buttons soldered into my key fob but now it does nothing. so have no alarm, no working key fob and a immobilizer failure!!!! cant see how by me pressing the lock button i've broken the body computer! and do i need to reconnect the alarm for the key fob to work? if so how? any ideas would be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!
i really don't want to send the car to the big scrap heap in the sky, but can't afford the 'repair' price.
