Inside the: Oil Filter
Now and then I do a post about dissection of components on the T.Spark Engine,
So far I have covered the Air intake Resonator box and Thermostat
Today I did a service on my bella and decided to cut open an oil filter, Upon dissection I Learnt that the filter element is sprung loaded with a rubber valve around the top and at the bottom where the spring sits.
From what I've learnt (correct me if I'm wrong here) the oil filter element can be bypassed if the oil pressure exceeds a certain limit, from causes due to clogged oil filter, (or high revvs?) I think the pressure of the system is around 2 Bar at a certain revolution, so the round corrugated filter element sits on a spring to move up and down when oil pressure exceeds, and there is another spring and valve inserted into the hole on the bottom of the filter element itself.
This filter has done 6 months and 2k miles if anyone is interested.
Thank you for reading
