Re: Novitec Sports or BMC performance air filters
Spanish importer for Novitec is a friend of mine. I can tell you the Novitec filter he has is a cotton oiled type filter. Best filters I've used are Raid HP. They use a special polymer and different layers of foam to trap dust and particles. Excellent performance and it doesn't clog up the MAF. I've been through K&N (sh!tted up the MAF badly) and now Raid HP in the 164 24V and it works a treat.
NB: I also have read on other forums that the performance air filter on a JTD is as pointless as f@rting in a thunderstorm. Diesels work harder from low down and the last thing you want to do is de-restrict the airflow which effectively gives you less low down torque but more high end power; pointless in a diesel. Changing the mapping works wonders on a diesel and removing the particle filter too (should still pass MOT) but to do anything else is a waste of money and will make your diesel sound like a tractor is the general concensus.
