Rear upper suspension mounts

Hi guys.

The other half's 147 got an advisory last year for both upper rear suspension mounts, one of which is now merrily knocking away. Any hints and tips on what needs changing and how to do it?

Compressing the spring and changing the mount is not the problem. The problem could be attempting to remove the shock. The lower bolts sieze, it may be wise to attempt to change the mounts in situ by dropping the suspension but not removing it completely.

Replaced both my rear springs just over a month ago - I did some reading to prepare - this was useful

This was also useful

Things to have to hand before you start are a deep 22mm socket to undo the top mount keeping the spring/shocker assembly to the car and the shocker nut under it, obviously the spring compressors, plenty of WD40 as the bolts/nuts may be rusted/stiff, and a vice (or similar) to grip the top mount when undoing the top nut to stop it twisting. I suggest planning in plenty of time as well as the first one will always take longer as you work out the method for you.

Best of luck...
