Id still attempt to remove what you can , may make their job easier and cheaper for you.
Im sure there are products to remove carbon and read of others like coke etc(or oven cleaner)
A few hours of your time with a paint brush is free, worth a try anyway if nothing moving in 10 min with coke youve lost nothing.
On a warning side if pressure and carbon can come out whatever you use to clean with has potential to go in and cause hydrolock?
Get in touch with your chosen garage and ask first cant go wrong.
A quick look on youtube seen a few getting pulled with hydraulic pullers and taking approx 5 tons pressure to get moving, mentions a slide hammer may only create 1.5tons of pressure.
With hydraulic puller its out pretty quick.
And not sure if removing crud off the top is any benefit if it couldtake 5 ton to pull out as crud will be on full length of injector well.
