10Kkm, 11 months, and oil still looks new. Change anyway?
I've got a 2001 156sw 1.8TS which was converted to LPG last year. I've been planning to do a change on the next warm day, but as the oil looks pristine, I'm thinking of waiting. It's got a grocery store brand 5-40 part synthetic with a high SAE rating in it. I would also think that running propane would dirty the oil faster, but this doesn't seem to be the case, at least for me. If the oil is so clean, does it really need to be changed? I'm not a cheapskate, but I do think most people change more often than necessary because of marketing hype. Hard science on this topic seems hard to come by.
