Amazing but true! Some of you may remember my warranty woes - back in March 2005 after the 24k service and ownership of my JTS for 1 yr 1 month, the local Alfa dealer identified that the anti-roll bar was failing, rear hub bushes failed, rear arms failing, exhaust failing, cambelt tensioner worn out.
Anyway 5 months later after no joy from Alfa UK (not surprisingly) and numerous calls to my local dealer, I got fed up of waiting and Alfa UK slow service and went to my dealer.
The last guy who I was dealing with had left and a new guy was there - had a long chat and they guy really seemed to sympathise with my issues. The result was that they are going to replace everything except for the cambelt tensioner ATM as they can't really cover that under warranty. They will check it to see what condition it's in though. Might be able to sort something out for that.
Anyway the guy I was speaking to turned out to be an ex-BMW service manager and he was telling me how BMW deals with large warranty claims - normally within an hour!!! They just call them up, whereas with Alfa it will take months. Why??? There is only one main guy at Alfa Uk dealing with warranty work apparantly and if he goes on holiday the world stops!
The ex-BMW guy was very nice and helpful. Maybe the new Alfa CEO (who is also ex-BMW) should replace most of the Alfa service people with BMW staff?
Also not only look at the dealers as the problem, but Alfa's warranty dept.
Car's booked in for this Friday!
