Re: Is 36.8mpg good?

I managed an average of 36mpg on the run to NAD recently. That was mainly motorway, doing between 80-100mph (but the speedo is broken, officer ), dropping to 60-70 for the speed cameras.

I can normally get about 35-36mpg if I am doing a motorway run. I have found that it doesn't matter whether I rein it in to 60-70mph (which, I can tell you, is like murder on a 100 mile journey ) or whether I average 80-90mph (ticking over very nicely, thank you very much ).

I normally average 32mpg on my daily commute (a mix of 60% dual carraigeway and 40% residential roads & traffic).

Yeap, keeping the speed around 80km/h is the best way to get a good average. And... it doesn't necessarily work in 5th gear. Try 4th.
