hi and low beams wont work together

i have a 2004 gt jts and if i turn on the high beams while low beams are on the low ones go out till i turn off the high beams and they come back on what is the cause of this

Have you left your front fog lights on by accident?

I had something similar to yours and it was because I had!

my old 147 used to do this but only occasionally. I never did figure out what the problem was.

Could it be a relay problem? In years long gone I relayed main / dip and used a feed from main beam to get the dip on at the same time; may still be the case?

Just a thought.
