MAF replacement and aftermarket air filters

Hello all,

I know I have started a few threads on here recently but bear with me!

I want to replace the faulty MAF sensor on my 156 and currently have a third party air filter on the car that a previous owner fitted. I know these can cause MAF failure but the original air boxes seem to be like rocking horse poo, and the 1 I did see was really expensive. Would I just be asking for another failed MAF if I fitted one and left the third party air filter on there?

Also am I better running a faulty MAF or dissconectig it in the meanwhile?

TIA for your help!

There are plenty of 156's breaking on Ebay so an email or two might find an airbox at a sensible price. If the filter is over oiled then yes another failed MAF is on the cards.

If the MAF is faulty, I'd disconnect it and see how it runs, it's only a two minute job to reconnect it if it's worse. You will get a MSCF error though which you can ignore.

I take it the previous owner removed the air filter box, you can buy a new one Here:

Or you could give Dan at AutoLusso a call for a used one, you can repair the lid on the air box by drilling out the crappy plastic holes and inserting a M6 brass thread insert and using bolts, then it'll last for years, this is what im going to do in the near future.

Hope this helps
