More 156 woes, help please.
Right a few things please fellow alfa owners...
So my 156 2.0ts wouldn't start this evening.
The engine turned over as normal but it wouldn't fire. After maybe 8 attempts to start it the battery sounded like it was dying and after a few more it was fairly flat.
Once attached another car battery it started second time and it turned over a lot quicker then i have been used to before it fired.
I have noticed over the last month or so the car has needed to turn over for a bit longer before firing and a few days ago it failed to start first time but did manage to start second time.
My diagnosis of this is that its just a duff battery. Its at least 3 years old, maybe significantly older (i bought the car 3 years ago), and i have flattened the battery a few times in my ownership. Can anyone back me up? What do i need to do to test for a duff battery?
Some of you mat have seen my other thread a few weeks ago regarding a hesitation from the motor. Turns out this definitely the MAF sensor as i unplugged this trying to get the car to start and drove home with it not connected and the car feels much better. This brings me to my second question, am i better off running with a faulty MAF or a disconnected MAF until i get that replaced?
I want to get a new OEM airbox before I replace the MAF, but they seem very expensive is there anywhere these can be bought for less?
