Find the rear wiper quite useful on our Sportwagon in damp conditions as it really sucks muck onto the back screen. Still, if you want to do away with it, if it is working you'll probably be able to sell it as they often seize.
Externally the wiper arm is held on with a 10mm nut. Internally the motor assembly is held on with three Allen screws a connection for the electrics, and a pipe for the rear washer (you'll need to plug this).
Don't know of any off-the shelf blanking plug as I've never known anyone do this...once the unit is out you can probably just measure the hole and get a suitable rubber grommet - fit it with some sealer and it'll probably be OK.
Someone with a 147 asked on one of the forums (maybe this one, maybe alfa156.net) about doing this, but he got slagged off so much that I can't remember if he ever reported back on what he did......
