Had a bit of luck today, I think
Apart from the thrill of being able to fix the airbag light with the help of some knowledgeable members of this forum.
I bought my 147 last weekend knowing that the airbag light was on but more ominously there was quite a bit of creaking and groaning from the front end every time I went over slightly uneven roads and speed humps. I was convinced I was going to have to replace the anti roll bar, drop links or bushes and maybe a combination of them. I used this to get the price down on the car. The car has only done 3k in the last 3 years and is on 45k.
The car sailed through it's MOT yesterday and I was told that they couldn't find any problems with the suspension. I also had an oil and filter change, even though it was less than a year and 1k miles ago since the last change. Seemed a sensible and reasonably cheap thing for peace of mind. Cambelt and water pump were changed 2 years ago.
I went for a spirited early drive on a clear A24 this morning and by the time I got back all the creaks and groans had gone. I assume lack of use had caused the suspension to dry out.
Well chuffed and fingers crossed the suspension concerns are history.
Loving the car btw.
