So, GT's not been driving right since I got it.
Would have lag, then a boost, then run into a brick wall at about 3.3k revs.
So took it to Peak Alfa. They diagnosed turbo dying, so put on a new (recon) turbo, new boost sensor and a remap, as well as EGR delete and blank.
Had a call from Roger at Peak Alfa today - car now goes like **** off a shiny shovel... UNTIL 3.3k revs, then still hits that wall!
He's had a really, really thorough check of hoses, turbo, 'cooler, everything like that. All is in order. The engine, he says, is a bit noisy and it's chucking blue smoke out the back under full power, so he thinks something internal is amiss. Maybe valves, maybe rings.
So now he's gotta take the head off next week and have a good look.
I was really hoping to get the car back soon - going on holiday to Cornwall in a fortnight, which is a long drive down the M5. Looks like we'll be doing it in the Mrs' Punto, doh!
Ah well... as I said to Roger, I was originally budgeting ~£10k for a 159, before buying a £4k GT. So at the end of the day, I'm still gonna be well, well up on where I would have been, even after getting the GT in full-working order, lol.
