Tell me about your 156 2.4 20v experiences
I am considering buying a late plate 156 SW 2.4 JTD for carrying my bikes around.
I already own a 156 V6 and I love it and have heard great things about the old style 2.4 diesel engine, which is reputedly quite a bit more economical than the one found in the Brera/ Spider/ 159.
I don't know much about them though really. Can anyone tell me about their experiences?
Are they reasonably quick? What sort of fuel economy do you get around town and on the motorway? A remap would be considered, but how resilient are the clutches?
Both the Alfa diesels I have had remapped in the past have needed new clutches almost immediately afterwards. If you need a new clutch on the 156 2.4 does it often need a new DMF at the same time like the newer cars? Are there any other common faults to look out for?
Any advice you could give me would be great. Also if anyone has a late plate 2.4 SW they are thinking of selling please PM me.
There is a nice Ti at Specialist Cars in Huddersfield, but it looks very overpriced and I have not heard great things about the quality of their vehicles or aftercare.
