Creaking Door and/or Rusty Bed Springs
Hi Wizards, I recently bought a 2004 156 2.4 (69000kms) and all was well for 3 weeks. Then after replacing all four tyres, it developed a horrible squeeking, creaking at the right front. It seems pronounced at low speeds and when stationary can be produced by depressing the right fender. I replaced both front shocks and lubricated all that I could see. No change. A techie at Alfa said, (without driving the car), dry ball joints of upper and lower control arms, and quoted about 1200 quid to replace both sides. Also he tells me that there is no way to lubricate the ball joints, being sealed units. Could this noise be a)something else and b)is there something that i can do without spending a small fortune, and c) am I going to die soon if I live with the noise?
