A couple of weeks ago my 20v decided to shred the auxiliary belt. This was replaced and one week later it did it again, but this time I was on a dual carriageway and had to limp to a place of safety. 20 yards before I could stop, the engine cried enough and cut out amongst clouds of smoke.
The good news is that I've just renewed my AA Garage Recovery, the bad news is that parts of the belt got into the timing case (replaced last November), this made the belt jump and destroyed the rockers.
She's now up and running (the AA will contribute £465 towards the cost) but with no low down torque or power and with plenty of black smoke, OK above 2k but low down - forget it!
I've cleaned the EGR, wasn't too bad and checked to see if I've got vacuum - which I have. The small pipes have previously been replaced with Silicone, the turbo actuator is moving - checked by sucking, so what is wrong? The diagnostic doesn't come up with anything.
I did suspect the VNT Solenoid but all was well before the "incident", so what can be wrong. Ideas and sympathy welcome
