Urgent help needed!! Alfa 156 2.0l Tspark 16v

I recently bought a Alfa 156 2.0 Tspark 16V '98 model. When turning the key to start the car all the lights on my dash lights up then a few dies after a couple of seconds, however the oil, fuel injection and battery light stays on with an orange "lock and key" as well.

I hear something like relays ticking in the front by the engine had a look and saw it was 4 red relays next to a big black relay. Took it out and cleaned the connecter pins (according to another thread), replaced but it's still clicking and the lights still on, on the dash.

I would really love to get this car started, it's really a fantastic vehicle (by the looks of it)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it an immobiliser problem? Do you have another key to try?

Also, have you checked the oil level?

Checked the oil level, that seems fine and unfortunately do not have another key to test. The only key I have seems to look like an original Alfa key.

Battery in Fob?
Immobiliser?.... I have read on here that a ECU reset can sometimes fix immobiliser issues.

Nothing whatsoever to do with the battery in the fob - that is for alarm/central locking - nothing to do with immobiliser. Disconnecting and re-connecting the battery can occasionally cure an immobiliser issue, so can unplugging and reconnecting the connections into the code box (mounted above the fuse box) as well as checking that the aerial wire from around the ignition barrel to the code box isn't trapped/shorting anywhere. Otherwise recheck all the relays in front of the battery and the wiring into the relay sockets, as corrosion here is common.

If it was just an immobiliser issue, the engine would still turn over on the starter, but it won't actually start.

How old is the battery?, should be about 12.6v, or check your battery earth straps aren't corroded, same goes for the battery terminals, they need to be corrosion free and greased with dialectic grease to prevent moisture building up and causing further corrosion
