My 08 JTD Blackline's just started to develop intermittent VDC error messages. The front suspension is starting to knock too! Boo hiss!!
Anyway, was changing the 4 brake discs and pads last weekend. While changing the rears, I saw that the ABS sensor and the ring was exposed after I removed the brake disc. It was pretty dirty so I gave it a good wipe with a cloth. Please see piccy below post cleaning…
Thought I’ll repeat the ABS sensor cleaning at the front but found it to be enclosed inside the hub so couldn’t give it a wipe.
I hoped that the rears were the sensors causing the VDC error message and put everything back together.
Drove to work today and the message came back halfway through the journey! Admittedly it took longer than usual but it still came up!
Thinking of removing the front sensors this weekend to clean them out of the hub (no idea how to wipe clean the sensor ring inside tho!!?)
Think I saw a nut securing the front ABS sensor to the hub. Is just a case of unscrewing the nut and removing the sensor? Worried that I’d be breaking clips and wotnot! Or worse the ABS sensor!!
Also, how do I clean the sensor ring inside the hub?
Almost due for a 84k service so will probably get Alfa Workshop to have a look if I fail. Just wanted to fix it myself if possible…..
Thanks in advance…..
