OK, so I've been reading through old threads about cambelt changes and I'm going to give it a go myself. I will buy the cam locks, cambelt kit with tensioners/ pulleys etc, balance shaft belt, auxillary belts, and a water pump. Question is, I've seen on here about changing the variator at the same time - these are about £100 so it bulks up the cost of the job - is it essential to do it? The engine sounds great - certainly not like a diesel, so it may be fine, but I dont know when it was last changed as I only just bought the car. Whats the consensus of opinion - change it when it gets noisy or fork out now??!! Thanks!!
