Diesel noise now quieter....why ?
Ove the last few weeks I'd noticed that my 1.9 diseasal was making more of tractor noise than normal, especially when booting it.
The car does ~140 miles a day is well maintained, good power etc etc.
Anyway, I checked the injector correction values in FES and a couple were about +/-2.5
I know the car has had work done (before I got it) as the rocker cover and injectors etc are all spangly and clean.
So thinking that maybe the injectors hadn't been coded, I checked the codes in FES.
They were all in fact correct, so after pulling up the code for each, seeing they were ok, I just hit <OK> instead of <CANCEL>.
The car is really much quieter at idle and when booting it and also the power delivery feels smoother.
Is "recoding" the injectors something we should be doing as almost a service item ?
Oh...the correction values are now around 0.4.
