Broken steering rack

Had my GT written off as cat d after someone crashed into side of me in carpark.
They admitted liability and i am buying my car back to repair.
Thing is the steering rack is snapped on the rod between rack and track end.
Can one just replace the rod or does the whole rack have to be replaced?
Also agents for insurance dont want me to know where my car is, i suppose the moral of the story is always have your car recovered to your home address.

The item you require is called a track rod.these are readily available at most motor factors and even ebay.

steering rack

It may be the track rod end or it could be the control are from the rack itself, either way, if its snapped its's have quite a shock. Under these circumstances I would change the rack, just to be on the safe side.
