The guy just couldn't understand why I was put off.

He was explaining to me that he has two bentleys. So?
He soon shut up when I asked him if he would buy a Bentley with a changed click in it!
I wouldn't have a problem with the speedo reading but I do understand why you don't like it.
What is certainly wrong is pricing a car at top price and saying thats it's immaculate to tempt someone like yourself when all the time the car is only average.
Nice put down BTW.

Dealers (even large ones) usually do absolutely nothing to their stock in between buying it and putting it on their forecourt (apart from maybe giving it a wash). I go to the auctions quite often and I've seen dealers taking away five or six cars on a transporter then those very same cars being on sale in their car lot that same afternoon.
They gamble on them being mostly okay and they only fix faults that are noticed by the potential buyer. They rely on the warranty they sell to cover anything else.
Well that's my opinion anyhow!

You probably couldn't have put it better but as a buyer I want to see them in polished pristine condition, not just rubbed over with a sponge!
