Does anyone know if there was a change in bonnet size on the 156?
I took my 1998 2.5 V6 156 into a high street tyre/brake company to sort out an annoying squeaking about 9 months ago, after replacing the front disks and pad the squeak was still there!?** I took it back and was told it must be the back pads/disks (No sh*t, Einstein!) Anyway, as it was driving me mad I had these changed as well... thats when the real trouble began.
I arrived on a friday evening to collect and the guy was just finishing the job, I paid the bill and drove away listening for the annoying squeak, nothing!!.. total bliss!! 2 miles home at low speed listening all the way.
The next morning I jump in the Alfa and on the A361 decided to give it a bit of a high speed squeak test, got to about 80 on a nice straight stretch when the bonnet suddenly flipped and smashed into the screen/roof and stayed there.. needless to say it was a bit of a 'new pants moment'.. Anyway after a couple of months arguing with the high street tyre/brake companyís insurerís they admit liability and give me a lump sum and the car. I have had the car fixed which took forever but now notice the bonnet doesnít fit like it use to. There is quite a big gap on one side to the wing and a smaller gap the other. I know I should have seen this when I picked it up but I was just really pleased to get it back. It looks like the new bonnet is smaller. Is this possible? Any help would be appreciated.
