Pretty much what I meant. But if you can work 1.5mm of ali into a guard/tray then well done, though it wouldn't take too much to hole it. The Ali bar I fitted across the rear of the tray to add strength and prevent it falling down was 2.5mm thick and 40mm wide. It lasted 20 mins before a rock and a pot hole ripped it off and mangled it like screwed paper! Overall the original style will give better protection on impact.

Do the aluminium ones rattle or resonate compared to plastic ones? My new 2004 Gt 3.2 doesn't have one and I am wondering whether or not to get one for it. Will the aluminium Alfa Stumper one for a 156 GTA fit the GT 3.2?
