Re: Smokey 156
Smokey JTD = too high fuel/air ratio and/or soot getting blown through the system and/or fouled injectors producing bigger fuel droplets and a dirtier burn.
1)Nice clean air filter
2)Try and run the car through the gears up to 4,000rpm at least once a week and hold it at 3,500-4,000 for 30 seconds or so before returning to normal driving
3)Good fuel additive. I use and recommend Millers Diesel Power Plus as the best "over the counter" product. It has cetane boosters (more ooomph), additional lubricant for your fuel pump and a detergent to clean the injectors. There's always an increase in gunge coming out your exhaust when you first add this product as it clears the pooh from your injectors, but it stops within 50 miles or so. Forte is better as a detergent for a rapid clean of your injectors, but only available through the trade.
