Motor Control System Failure

Just collected a 2004 156 from a dealer and within an hour had the error message of Motor control system failure appear. He told me when I collected the car that he had just had the battery replaced. Hoping its something very simple. All help gratefully received!

I have just seen that the battery put in by the dealer is re conditioned, could that be the problem?

I'd be chucking the keys at the dealer for them to sort

a JTS with MCF error can be a scary thing - fair bet you'll get misfire error codes....

Had this happen to me 'out of the blue' but if the car is still running well just ignore it. No doubt, like my 'message', it will go away: mine did, and hasn't reappeared. That was several weeks ago. Sounds a minor worry where an Alfa is concerned!
