Hmmm Wind Screen Wipers Fault

Wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and can help.

I have an Alfa 156 2.5Ltr V6 and the issue I have is the wind screen wipers not working properly they work ok on normal speed and fast but anything below they just get stuck. Not sure if its the motor, the arm switch on the stearing column or may be a relay. If any one has an idea it would be appriciated.

If you can get a wiring diagram and have a multimeter you can check voltage To the stalk and motor. Or continuity with the switch set to the relevant position.

Cleaning the contact plate and fingers on the large gear on the output shaft of the wiper motor is a good thing.
On slow and fast speeds the motor is powered directly but intemittent (delay) speeds are run through the contact plate in the motor.
I expect its grease has got contaminated and is causing some electrical resistance.
