Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 Over heating.
Hi everyone, hopefully this will help some of you out there as it took a bit of time but got to the bottom of it in the end as follows:
My Alfa 156 ran fine did not overheat when ticking over, was fine on cold days driving short distances, but if drove a long way or drove her hard (which is the point of driving 2.5L V6 LOL) she would get hot and the second fan would cut in, if I slowed down she would cool down not a problem. I took her to my local garage and they tried everything. They changed the all the sensors rad cap ??!! but nothing worked. I joined this forum and saw on a thread that the water pump had a plastic impela and this can spin seperate to the metal sharft when it is worn, so I informed the garage they changed the water pump and all is good touch wood. Hope this is of help to some one.
