GT Sidelight Bulb - day light robbery!

GT told me I'd got a bulb out, it turned out to be the side light, no probs I thought, I've got lots of those......

Eventually figured out how to the get the bulb out, go to insert the new one - didn't fit - a close look at the old one shows the lugs are not aligned 180 degrees, more like 160 degrees so the standard sidelight bulb doesn't fit Off to motorspares then to get some: 7.99 each!!!!!! compared to 2.99 for 2 standard ones.

Good old Alfa there always has to be a more difficult and more expensive way to do something!

They are halogen (H6W) so make sure you don't touch the glass when fitting or they last even less time ...

In your nearly 5 years as an AO member and, presumably, Alfa ownership this is the first sidelight you've had to replace? Consider yourself very lucky.

A lot of us have gone for LED replacements owing to the constant failure of sidelight bulbs. LEDs are of course not immune to failure but they do seem to last longer and are considerably cheaper. I tend to buy half-a-dozen or so at a time, buying more when I reach my minumum stock level

All the best

Try turning your lights off when u stop .It seems to be that when you start engine with them on it can overload them causing them to blow .After this happening to my 4 times in a few months I went to led bulbs got them of E bay had these in all over the winter no problems at all .Mind you I turn light off when I stop when i remember getting old lol
