Air Filter and Box

Hi Guys,

I have just bought a new Air Filter (paper) from Shop4Parts.

I just wanted to ask, is there any point in cleaning the inside of the Air Filter Box before replacing the Air Filter?

If so, what’s the best way of cleaning it and are there anyway of improving air flow into the box?

The bolts have broken off the top of the box, so im planning on just re-drilling some new holes and fitting new bolts in, is this ok to do or are there any down sides to doing this?

Thanks guys

Re: Air Filter and Box

Best way to improve air-flow is fit the V6 intake pipe. I did and the car is much more responsive. There's a how-to on my website

As for cleaning: probably a good wash with soap and water ... maybe a pressure wash if you have one ... and carefully dried.

The bolts may be more of a problem. Alfa still list the bolts, so you should be able to get replacements if you can get the old bolts out. I've read (here?) of one guy who pulled the old fittings out, drilled and cleaned the threads, and replaced them. I know others use self-tappers. A replacement box is expensive but you might fit someone breaking a car or who has changed to a CDA intake who is willing to part with theirs.

cheers, Gary

Re: Air Filter and Box

Many Thanks, I will look for a V6 pipe and give that a go I think.

Again many thanks for the info.
