Wiper switch unit

I have burnt out my wiper motor by inadvertently leaving wipers on during cold spell. I am also told that the wiper switch unit has been burnt out as well. The cost of replacing both I have been quoted is over 500 (215 for motor and between 250 and 300 for the switch unit). i can probably get a motor for a lot less, but what is the switch unit? I am only able to identify the switch, which is very cheap on eBay. I have a 2003 2.0 156.

The column switch is a combined unit on the 156 -comprising both stalks. I'd be surprised if you have burnt the switch out. I'd suggest you get a replacement wiper motor (check that you get the correct one - they changed in about 2001 ) and just try that at first - assuming of course that you've checked that it wasn't just the fuse that has blown.
