Glow plug confusion

Cant start the car and have glow plug warning on the dash. Have tested the glow plugs by turning on the ignition and observing which ones glow red once removed - having done this i am pretty confused. Cylinder 1 (far laft) always seem to work OK - the rest are intermittent (No 2 cylinder) or non exisitent (cylinders 3 and 4). Would this indicate a glow plug control unit issues or dodgy wiring?

If its wiring is a new wiring loom seperable and available?

No, It means all the glow plugs are done for... Replace as a full matching set, but re-check the new ones before fitting, some have been known to fail brand new.... It defeats the object just replacing one or two, they will fail within a matter of days or weeks at most otherwise

ok, glow plugs all checked and one definitely at fault as a finally worked out the shafts of the plugs must b earthed in order to check their operation _ this was the reason for earlier confusion.

Now to order glow plugs and a new battery
