'00 156 Selespeed query...

On the '00 156 Selespeed box, can sombody clarify something...

Does the box have three modes...

Auto, semi auto and manual?

Auto being fully automatic, Semi auto being button based, and manual being joystick based???

Is that correct?

Re: '00 156 Selespeed query...

The Selespeed has 2 modes

1. City mode - basically an automatic but not much fun.

2. Normal mode - button or 'joystick' control.

All modes are semi automatic - you can not force the engine to over rev or for the revs to drop too low - it will automatically select the next appropriate gear.

You can use the gear stick or buttons to change gear at any time. Reverse and Neutral can only be selected using the gear stick.

Remember that you have no physical contact with the gearbox, clutch or throttle - it is all controlled by the Selespeed computer. You can change gear with your foot off the throttle or flat to the floor (or anywhere in between).

Depending on the throttle position will vary the type of gear change from slow to fast.

Re: '00 156 Selespeed query...

Another thing, at very low speeds (very VERY low) you can't use the buttons.
So from a standstill you must use the lever to select 1st or reverse (you can also select 2nd from stationary to reduce the torque in slippery conditions).

Re: '00 156 Selespeed query...

Did anyone ever have a Selespeed stolen..? Seems to me the average Chav-boy can't even spell his name... quite how he'd get a Selespeed hot-wired and away is beyond me.
