Dayco cambelt kit failure after 3 months!
Hi guys i recently fitted a dayco timing belt kit to a customers 1.9 jtd 16v a straight forward exercise. This was 4 months and around 2000 miles ago.
They popped in the other day and the engine sounded noisey.I investigated and found that the timing belt tensioner has failed so although the bolt is tight the tensioner is not doing its job,the belt is on but slack and clumping the covers!! maybe the tensioner internal spring has broken.
Euros have said they are sending out a new kit tomorrow and that i can make a warranty claim i work on a fixed price i.e £120 labour plus parts but what is the expected labour time in hours for the job cos they say they go by book time at £35 per hour.Anyone know from memory.
